One for the ages, and easily NXT's best bout in history, I take a look at where it places among all the classic dramatic matches, and what exactly it was that these two did!

First Runners-up - Okada-Omega 1
Second Runner-up - Brian Cage vs. Nakajima Third Runner-up - Asuka vs. Ember Moon Honestly, I could probably have had 50 runner-up slots and be leaving out a ton of great matches. From the War Games to the Last Woman Standing Match, NXT had some amazing stuff. There was the Four-Way that was the WWE match of the year. There wer eamazing matches in both All Japan and Noah, including the second best match last year between Brian Cage and Nakajima (I talk about it here) and First Runners-up - Jericho vs. Owens
Second Runners-up - The Usos vs. New Day Third Runner-up - Naito vs. Tanahashi There was no doubt this would win. It produced the three best matches of just about any year, and some of the best interviews in any language from Omega. These two are the Steamboat and Flair of the 21st Century. In another year, Owens and Jericho's feud from earlier in the year would have won, and Goldberg-Lesnar would have competed, but these two are just so far ahead of everyone else. First Runners-up - The Usos
Second Runners-up - War Machine Third Runners-up - Cesaro/Seamus OK, let's be real. There are no other tag teams internationally that have the sort of footprint the Young Bucks do. I don't like 'em much, but I can't deny that they don't go out there and give a great show every time. I just don't happen to like their style. I will say that they are on the verge of their biggest break-through yet if rumors of a WWE signing next year are true. They could bring back 2015 to the WWE's tag scene. First Runner-up - Will Ospreay
Second RUnner-up - Tyler Bate Third Runner-up - Kushida Yup, Ricochet. He's amazing, and he's headed for bigger things in 2018, as the WWE seems to be calling (and have already likely signed his girlfriend, Tessa Blanchard) and he's had so many amazing matches in New Japan and PWG, plus about 30 other places. I could see him winnign this again and again, but those three names in the Runner-up slots all are really close. |
